Diplomaticos is the luxury Cuban cigar brand produced at the Cuban Island by Habanos S.A.
The brand has been the first new brand to be released after the Cuban revolution of 1959, seeing the light at the same year. It is known that Cohiba is also the first post-revolutionary brand, however, it has been released for the personal use of the ex-Cuban leader Fidel Castro only.
The brand has been introduced in 1966 as a pricey alternative to the legendary Montecristo brand and was aimed at the French market solely.
These cigars are always only hand-made, proving that they are luxury cigars. They are produced at the Jose Marti factory, where they manufacture the most of the Montecristo line, as well.
However, these cigars, if compared to the Montecristo stogies, are milder than their predecessors and aimed to the smokers who like lighter bodied cigars, with the same nuances and flavor range.
The brand is presented in a simple range from 1 to 5, with all cigars having different shapes. The Diplomaticos #1 have the Lonsdale vitola, with a ring gauge 42 and length 165 mm; the #2 has the Piramide/Torpedo shape with the dimensions 156 mm and a ring gauge 52; the #3 possesses the Corona shape, with the length 142 mm and a ring gauge 42; the Diplomaticos #4 has the Petit Corona/Mareva size, with dimensions 129 mm and a ring gauge 42; and, finally, the last cigar from the Diplomaticos brand, the #5 has the Tres Petit Corona/Perla size, with 102 mm and 40.
